This is the second piece in my “suburban fantastic” series. I’ve had this particular image in my head for months, and it’s nice to see it all out on paper. Well, digital paper? You know what I mean. The idea here is that there’s a gigantic, imminent threat–a world-ending threat. And the suburban guy in his nice SUV is just, well, ignoring it. Until it shows up behind him with an incinerator. Indy author John Wilker contacted me a couple months back and asked if I would illustrate the main characters to his space action/opera series Space Rogues. I jumped at the chance, and I’m glad I did. This project was a lot of fun to complete. There are six members of the crew. This piece started as an image I couldn’t get out of my head. So I’m happy I was finally able to paint it. And even happier that it turned out essentially the way I had pictured it in my brain. (My brain can be good with the pictures sometimes. It’s a good brain. Well. I can’t complain.) If you want prints of any of my pieces, please visit my store!
